Would also be cool if there could be a hotkey for "insert block below the parent". Something like alt+return maybe. So you can create a new block below, when you are inside a group for example.

1 Your app solves some shortcomings of the aforementioned tools.
If I may start with a suggestion: I think it would be nice if we could use not only emojis, but also (maybe colored) icons just like Notion did recently. I think it gives a more sleek, clean, professional look. The icons may come from an existing library or be uploaded by the user after getting them from flaticon for instance.

Personally, I prefer how it is realised in Obsidian, where you can enable the option to fold/unfold any heading or indent, so no need manually add toggle everywhere. Basically, as I hinted, it has to do with a / my certain use of Capacities, sitting there as the knowledge studio (PKM), before churning out some base material (be)for(e) editorial uses. I am in strong inclination / need to use some way to annotate the knowledge objects internally / on a fine grain level*. This is probably what in other environments is achieved by note panes (Scrivener etc.), or by inline commentary (MD) etc. I was on the verge of asking for some way to have anchored side notes (or 'marginalia') for blocks, .. just to notice that Capacities provides all means to emulate these (colored blocks; set as dynmic / resizable columns alongside text blocks... which would be one way to achieve such a 'local specific annotation' function... etc. etc.
– In any way: I see several sub-scenarios in which it would be useful to *not include info / media / etc. on export, which I otherwise like to have / see in my knowledge base... hope this gives enough context / motivation 4

I don't know if I'm clear ...so, a use-case: I'm taking notes to write a story and I'm adding a bunch of tags linked to a character and its story. In other words: why not think about how to leverage the existing graph, instead of just seeing it as a gimmick. (for me it is a little more than that, though actually doesn´t yet cross the barrier of real regular and productive use; rather like a 'side view' / sidekick).
I think it is a great promise ... so, I am looking to find what would make it actually more useful. besides being able to read the whole label of nodes eventually ( 
), the main insight for currently is that it needs to be more of an active, resonant use-structure, rather than 'just' a reflection of some selected relational structures. So, giving feeedback to it would be great progress. In some way, to me representing collections in the graph is some first step in that direction, as my collections then inform the graph – and the graph informs me about something I curated very consciously as a knowledge context.
In the end, if I understood Steffen and Michael correctly, their vision is to morph the graph into something that resembles the whiteboard experience. when they uttered that idea, I was very intrigued. and actually, I am unsure this is doable / the right path, as graphs and whiteboards are ... not the same thing (but then there is Hepta and Scrintal...).
In any way, I wouldn´t let go of the idea, that the graph can ... become... better... and: ... more useful.

I know @Steffen + @Michael_v_H have bulk operations on their monitor and in view. but it really is missing more and more urgently a) as use grows & exxtends (i.e. users start 'living' / 'breathing' Capacities; and b) as a lot of other power features emerge, ... which makes some of the basic lacks more feelable / awkward...

Allow saving into the sharing dialog before sending the link, and then once someone opens the link, a Save to space button might appear letting them save the note to their own space.

I'm currently super hyped about Capacities and really enjoy using it. But, there is just one thing I constantly think about when using Capacities: Losing content. I feel like I have to trigger the backup daily in case I either accidentally mass delete something or there is a bug in the client/server.
The Capacities backup format is really, really good. Exceptional for SaaS, one of the reasons I'm migrating to Capacities. But even with this backup if I accidentally delete a lot of content I wouldn't be able to get it back or re-import it easily.
This is why https://capacities.io/feedback/p/a-place-for-recently-deleted-content or a server side restore function is my number 1 feature request.

for this there is no sorting (yet). as far as I can see @Michael_v_H / @Steffen still work on the Dashboard view + giving more options here. (see: https://capacities.canny.io/feedback/p/better-database-dashboards).
I think generally Dashboard is one of the UI-sections which is still weighed and mused upon in terms of strategical development. so individual sorting might come to this as well, though I´d assume in the logic of Capacities so far this is all more about certain working categories (recent, untagged, in no collection... and things like this).

what I was referring to was the – new – ability to custom sort collections in left sidebar (in the semi-tree-hierarchy, under the object types). this is also very helpful and was much asked for.
another UI-module where you could – in theory – custom sort collections, is if you use the stack-sidebar to the right where any kind of tab (including a collection view) can be pinned. ... but that might not what you are looking for, I guess...

practically: I assume task management is alread pre-developed. and the expectation is also already set. plus: I respect people thinking it's needed for their personal PKM workflow (though I'd still like to see the real case made for it in terms of PKM)

this is already happening. and it happens to me, in terms of me increasingly relying on Capacities as start- & end-point of things.
what this also means: people will need (at least I do :-)) more + more ways to view more complex workflows + info scenarios. and they will need a workspace that really increasingly resembles a studio – its versatility, its 'folds', its multiple simultaneous affordances + views, etc.
I think, there will have to be some thinking about views of the workspace, and wider 'roll out' of it, in a way. just think of your work desk to get the picture / idea.
certainly, I expect smart queries to be a huge leap forward in this respect ('go, go, go!').
but, if I understand them correctly, they will mainly work within the given (logic of) views. left sidebar (1). main view pane (1; tabbable). right sidebar (hm, maybe...). that´s it.
so things will basically still have to happen in 3 drawers / segments of that one 'desk'.
– my feeling / sentiment: that will need to increase somehow / at some point to really carry a) Capacities potential (a given :-)), b) the load of use + use cases, + their growing 'density' (see initial remarks).

– just to clarify: concordance is a different logic from smart suggestions. kind of inverts the mechanics of the process (of autosuggest), with some – additional – benefits. it is kind of a dynamic mini-index, presented to oneself, visibly.
so, it brings in the – digitally much neglected – logic of indexes (automatic index of all content is one of the things Circus Ponies Notebooks will always be missed for).
– now, visible / browsable indexes is one of the cognitive 'techniques' that set apart books from every other format. 
and I am not understanding why the digital world largely forgets about it, resp. relegates it into the machine rooms (invisibility)
the trick with 'concordance' (at least in DT) is, that it does some linguistic analysis, sorting (and selecting) rare words. so one is presented with the most salient notions.
but these presented words do not represent a single link, but the are links to every other document containing that word (kind of saved searches).
not only that, but their visible, pre-processed presentation itself is of cognitive value: one gets a kind of semantic pre-processing of any document (object), a list of concepts that creates analysis, overview, and prompts ones own thoughts on the basis of real content.
... so, all that – concordance and index-logic – relates to something that auto-suggest glosses over, really.
but a level 'below', it´s really a thing about knowledge cultures and styles. it is no accident that 'auto-suggest' was popularized by shopping (hiding the process of selection), while index-logic spells out the links and explicitly lists the linking concepts + then forwards you to (all) the content 'linked'. it is not only transparent; it makes stuff conceptually explicit .
I actually think this also would fare well with Capacities idea of 'calming down' the knowledge space, in a helpful / productive way...

In Obsidian, when I need to write text for the Format as code command, I can simply open the input by typing backtick during text input, continue writing, and then close it with another backtick. I start from the self description that Capacities gives itself (see landing page, vision paper etc.). there it differentiates itself as a 'personal PKM' app.
but of course everyone is free to load everything on everything. and actually, I think that is the new vogue in the whole note / PKM app world. but then, eventually all those projects get derailed (feature bloat and cognitive disonance is a thing in the app world, IMO).
btw. I was not even talking against the 'feature' of footnotes. I was just trying to put such things into some context. as I think, this will help to streamline requests, collective expectations, development decisions,... etc. otherwise things just turn into, 'I want this... and that'. and in the end nobody is happy. again. just my opinion.
if you check the discussions here, you will see me agreeing that 'PKM' itself is a rather vague term, not good for assuming automatic clarity of what is meant, this implies, what each and everyone associates. which is why I encourage and engage in some reflections on this, and attempt that as part of community exchange.
e.g. I am also not subscribing to each and every feature that Capacities has, or focusses on in development, weighing it against the trade-offs. so, neither am I neccessarily a supporter of audio-notes (though, I think they are handy), nor for example do I think Capacities should also be a task manager... or a wordprocessor...

but in the end, and looking at the images you put up above, you / one will need a dedicated word processor for such things anyways. at least if one wants to have control over appearance and details, handle footnotes vs. endnotes ... and all that. so, very generally, one probably will need special tools for some special things anyways, ... even if Capacities is superduper... and will only get better...

I would love to suggest a Focus mode for writing. I am an essayist/novelist and want to use Capacities for all the prep work. Being able to have nothing but the blank document regardless of type would be incredible. 4 2 2 2 1 2 1

I mainly treat it as a hyper intelligent – heterogenuous – library, as it can fantastically deal with (nearly) all document / media types.
Strong points here are very flexible organization (w/ aliases), customizable metadata, advanced search, some useful forms of (semi-)automatic organization, AI (before there was AI), … and a dozen tricks-of-trade, mostly useful (like auto-toc, finding / extracting highlights, related documents /groups etc pp). another strong point is the free choice to either import, or sync folders... or both alongside. It also works very well as intelligent container (annotated library) for all the documents, while opening anything in its native app, save,... continue.
I – personally – also very much like its capability to segment in as many DBs ('spaces') as you like, and then search / organize / compare either within any of these spaces, or in any chosen (saveable) set of DBs / spaces simultaneously.
Etc. pp.
Since recently – as it allows for luxurious scripting; and there are many helpful scripts / scripters around – it can even integrate an AI assistant via inclusion of OpenAI... and you can run that over any set of documents... which is ... quite fantastic for research...
but you already see... it´s kind of a beast, a jack-of-all-trades, and while it can be used minimally, and also the UI (aesthetics) gotten much better the last 3-4 years, ... it finally is not the fun-thing where you like 'to go home to' (as in Capacities). that is partly because of its openess (bleeding) to a lot of external / heterogenuous file formats; but also because it really is thought out in the spirit of 'database' and 'language intelligence' (basically). it´s not a studio.
so. you could of course write your PhD about all that...

I think it's worth taking a strategic and integral approach to developing the graph, as it is such a gem already.
I think it's helpful to make this an explicit / seperate point / request in light of:
• many individual / atomic / scattered ideas around improving the graph floating around here already
• discussions about extending the modal reach of CAP, like mindmap requests... often overlooking / neglecting the existing resources / ' strongpoints' of CAP (like the graph)
• previous hints in the forum that the devs are (or were) already actively thinking about extending the role / functional reach of the graph
• the simple fact that initially the graph has been a real attractor, drawing many looks / comments, and now feels neglected vis-a-vis other aspects, seemingly focussed very much on the aspect of 'atomic data mechanics' and an ongoing extension / deepening of the 'dynamic database' metaphor

I'm absolutely loving the efficiency of managing my information with Capacities. As I dive into creating a collection of websites in the Websites Object, I thought of a feature that could enhance the workflow.
How about the ability to batch add multiple websites to the Websites Object in one go? It would be fantastic to have an option where I can input a list of URLs or paste them, and Capacities automatically adds them to the Object, perhaps with an option to customize how the titles or tags are generated.
This would be a game-changer for quickly building a curated collection! What do you think? I think there is some practical as well as conceptual benefit to cluster such requests into logical / programmatical frameworks, and point out which segments / macro-logics of the CAP architecture could need / benefit from improvement.
• practical: it helps avoiding splintering of votes and attention alongside similar requests (on both sides: users + devs) 
• conceptual: I think, it is good to assort individual feature wishes + visions to larger logical blocks, as it creates a more systematic understanding for everyone + also strengthens a conceptual understanding of the community (+ the dev team) of where strengths / weaknesses / possible development trajectories of CAP lie...;
(– plus, it helps leading away /off-balances a very visible bias in the PKM community, too focussed on atomistic features + invested in cross-copying everything to everywhere across all the PKM-apps w/o really attending to characters, profiles and architectural logics of any particular app...; but that is, admittedly a very conceptual thought, and maybe idiosyncratic / overly 'loaded'... ) 1 1 1 1

There is simply no 'not tied to any object type' or anything resembling that…
So, while happy with the 'text-property' solution, I am wondering what I am missing, as I always strive to understand all the options present.

… the reason it has only 1 vote really is that I just posted it as request. the resurfacing ('promotion') was really turning a point made here in the Discord-forum into a Canny-'request'/'-proposition'.
this reflects the different mechanics of the forum & the board, to some degree. with regards to more strategical ideas (not really corresponding 1:1 to a certain, specific atomic 'feature') I see the forum rather as the medium / channel to 'throw a stone into the water'; … and depending on the dynamics turn it into a 'request' at some point (or not)…

I keep re-bumping into this problem of 'legibility' with the search results.
titles, the way they are layouted (small size / small margins) lost in Wall & Gallery view, and the same is actually true for, e.g., object type 'pills'.
generally the layout of CAP is very slick, minimal and functional – not so when it comes to search results, which are by nature very dependent on easy 'browsability' + 'discernability' at a glance, as people try to quickly 'filter' through the 'unexpected' heap of information that are represented in them.
… you can make a simple test here, to see things are unbalanced and the weight of the different semantic units is 'off':
compare the size of tags displayed in such a result list vis-a-vis the main info of such a structured list, that is the titles of the entries found, or the category sorting of the list (like 'object types').
– the tags (being kind of 'normal' content or even 'noise' here in some way) are twice as big as object titles! … and kind of 2,5x size of the titles for categorical sorting!
I think this deserves an overhaul at least as much & in same spirit as the TOC of the sidebar; even more maybe because in this case the eye has to deal with much more complex, (un-)structured information.

coming from audio + video editing, this method has been applied to represent image sets in a single frame as well.

I am personally of the opinion that there are whole other aspects that kind of deserve equal attention, and that fall out of the 'database, rows and columns' paradigms, at least on the side of experience + interactive workflows (like drag and drop logics; collating and associating stuff more freely; schematization, (self-)presentation + visualization options; having more of a 'worksessions' logics etc pp ️ )… so, maybe good to know that is where some of my 'cautioning', 'second guessing' etc. comes from…

There is already a indicator in the dropdown menu that shows it being AI-generated, so the app knows, but we don't unless we click on it. And further, what if that AI-generated block could be converted into an embedded chat in one click? I made a very quick mockup of what it could look like!
I love the Ask AI command, and I wish I could use it as a way to engage with the native Assistant in a more organic way. Kind of like how Raycast's Quick AI feature allows you to "continue" the chat in their AI Chat if you want to keep the conversation going. ✨

my first Weekly Review yesterday took me 7 hours - one of the things i spent a lot of time on was organizing colors for tags which matched objects and statuses.
OK, having all the cool little icons for stuff, and how they match in style, I totally got my "sticker/scrapbook" groove on and went to town adding icons for everything, definitely not the best of use of a Sunday evening, but I totally enjoyed it.
but seriously, it would be cool if I could just make all new tags the same color (grey).
or is it doing some kind of textual analysis of the tag as I create itand choosing a color for me, and I missed it?

again, my first Weekly Review yesterday. I used the Daily Note's tracking of everything I created in a day to go through stuff and see where I left loose ends, and generally did a TOTAL rework of my messy schema from day1 to day7, one object at a time.
The most frustrating thing was keeping that left-pane on (for example) page 6 of the Daily Note while I investigated items (shift+click) in the right pane. Too many times, I clicked wrong and had to find my place again.

I guess task management is scheduled in the next up section. And before that we will already have the power to create, alter and delete Calendar events directly from Capacities. A 2-way calendar sync is one such feature that super big note taking apps struggled to develop but Capacities is already way ahead , and linking them to birthday dates would really cut down on the hassle of juggling multiple apps for a single concept. … as part of my future knowledge management…

The text editor is my biggest pain and leads to frustration on an almost daily basis. Especially selecting / moving text blocks almost never works as I expect it to do, so I often end up writing in other apps. This is by far my No1 on the wish list and I hope the editor gets some love asap. 5 5

as to the discussion on microfrictions + proposal to create a 'focus' ticket / channel etc.:
I just had another one (though, not directly related to text editing, which seems a focus of the debate):

then, forced to decide whether to file this as 'bug' or 'improvement' I felt torn. somehow 'ironing out' those nasty microfrictions doesn´t seem quite as substantial as a 'real' 'bug'; but given debates + diagnosis of frictions adding up, it also doesn´t feel right to label it as 'improvement' only.
… so, I gave it a virtual tag called 'basic frictions'…
to put this into a proposal / collective inquiry:
• maybe team ( @Steffen / @Michael_v_H ) want to consider opening any collection / channel / focus on this?!
– putting a 'friction' category in the ticket system would be one option.
… of course, there are alternatives: opening a channel here, giving some handy instructions as to how to 'bundle' everything related etc etc.
and, it seems like a reasonable consequence for the stated fact that the team is currently collecting those frictions (text editing only, I wonder? ♂️ ):

• another way is the community introducing something like their own virtual tag system (like: 'microfrictions'), i.e. everybody using this to flag that an issue belongs to this core issue of basic frictions (that is: frictions that really get in the way of daily + habitual workflows)?!

Okay everyone, hear me out on this… I think I just had a really cool idea. What if Capacities had a ‘floating window’ feature? Picture this: you could pin any object as a new window that stays on top of everything else, no matter what app you’re in. It’s not just about keeping notes visible—it’s about being able to seamlessly reference and edit them without breaking your workflow. This would align perfectly with the team's stated goal of Capacities being a true Tool for Thought, where your ideas/notes/tasks are always front and center, helping you stay focused and set up a personal studio for deep work.
This floating window would basically be a Floating Focus Mode that clears out all the other distractions. You’d be able to move between apps, but the important stuff you’re working on wouldn’t disappear into the background. It'd be even cooler if the window had some slight opacity to it.
Another thought: this could also tie into the global quick capture tool (which I know is on the roadmap). Maybe there’s a keyboard shortcut like ⌃Space that instantly opens a single text box, defaulting to a search bar. From there, you could search your space, or just type + to trigger the New Object options (kind of like the ⌘U shortcut in the app). And to keep things flexible, you could even configure in settings whether new objects open in the floating window or directly in the app. And there would be a button/shortcut to close the floating window anytime and pop that object open directly in the app if you need to dive deeper into it (and vise versa). But there is one feature I would love to have: In the calendar view (I live in the calendar view, by the way), it would be nice to have a count of the entries on my timeline. And the same for the "Created today" section.

I just recently put up a request for some version of it (included in a general streamlining ticket for the search – filters – query complex), and it drew a positive acknowledgement from the team.
