Google just gave a huge sneak peak at the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

The Pixel 6 and the 6 Pro are coming "later this year."

Google is taking the wraps off the Pixel 6

In a Twitter thread this week, Google revealed (and confirmed) a lot of new details about its upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, including...

Colors

The Pixel 6 will come in three different color combos in addition to plain grey and black, including yellow, green, and red. Note: the Pixel Pro will only be available in yellow, grey, or black while the standard Pixel 6 will only be available in red, green, or black, so you may have to go premium if you’re really into yellow or grey.

Camera specs

The Pixel 6 Pro will come with three different camera lenses, including a telephoto lens with a 4x optical zoom while the standard Pixel 6 will have two (Google says the telephoto is for the Pros only). It didn’t expound upon the other cameras in the array, but it’s possible those will be getting an update as well.

6.4-in

The Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch display.

6.7-in

The Pixel 6 Pro will have a slightly larger 6.7-inch display.

As expected, both phones will have the first generation of Google’s own Tensor chip instead of being powered by Qualcomm. The new chips are geared toward improving onboard AI and machine learning used for taking pictures, speech recognition, and more.

Google says speech recognition in particular will see a big improvement and is promising jumps in voice commands, translation, captioning, and dictation as well.

Google also took the opportunity to tout its security improvements, claiming that the Pixel 6, which uses the Titan M2 chip, will be built with more hardware layers of security of any phone on the market.

While there’s no specific pricing or a release date, The Verge reports Google intends to sell the Pixel 6 at a “premium price.” Whether the Pixel 6 will be worth the aforementioned premium pricing, we’ll just have to wait and see.
