The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 3 sneaker can help you crush your next marathon
Even lighter and faster than its predecessors.
Adidas might just be getting ahead of the races. The Adizero Adios Pro 3, the third chapter of the Adios Pro series, is its latest addition to its running shoe roster. The lightweight, technology-packed model comes directly from Adizero, an initiative at Adidas that helps control the weight of its shoes and apparel to improve performance.
Need for speed — As a long-distance racing shoe, new technology and recycled materials give the sneaker and its wearer an advantage in speed and sustainability. Carbon energy rods, known here as ENERGYRODS 2.0, are built into the midsole and lay parallel to the wearer’s metatarsals (the long bones that connect your ankle to your toes) for maximum energy return. While the rods were separated in the Adios Pro 2 and prone to snapping, the new design molds them as one to provide “harmonious stiffness.”
The upper is even more lightweight and features a breathable material to help prevent burnout in the first few miles. Down below, it’s supported by two layers of Lightstrike Pro foam at the midsole to absorb shock and provide safe energy return. A Continental rubber outsole then rounds out the construction to for added traction.
With all the technology packed into the shoe, it’s hard for the aesthetics not to match the part. The upper is black at its base but comes fitted with neon green on an oversized Three Stripes motif, interior, and toe. The midsole also on an oversized appearance with their puffy white foam, but don’t add too much weight to the lightweight silhouette.
Try to keep up — Similar to its predecessors, the Adios Pro and Adios Pro 2, the sneaker is with athletes in mind, helping push their boundaries into record-breaking results. Previously, Peres Jepchirchir won two record-breaking half-marathons with the help of the kicks, and Kibiwott Kandie improved his own record by 29 seconds. According to Adidas, 60 percent of 2021 World Major Marathon wins were by athletes wearing the Adizero Adios Pro 2, meaning there’s should be even more possibility for success with this third iteration.
If you’re looking to upgrade your running kicks, the Adizero Adios Pro 3 retails for $220 — a fair deal considering the level of performance that’s promised. It’ll drop on June 23 via the Adidas website and select physical stores, leaving plenty of time to get some training in before the fall marathons.
