Prada partners with Cassius Hirst for its first solo NFT drop
The digital collectibles will be gifted to those who buy one of 100 exclusive shirts.
Following its first NFT made in collaboration with Adidas, Prada has announced its first solo NFT drop, a venture even more exclusive than the label’s typical products. Dubbed the Timecapsule NFT Collection, the project is a monthly online event that allows shoppers to access both a gender-neutral physical product and a gifted NFT on the first Thursday of every month. Customers will have 24 hours to secure the offerings, granted quantities don’t sell out as soon as they release.
Each limited-edition Timecapsule item has been customized with a unique serial number and comes delivered in packaging exclusive to the product it houses. The item’s accompanying NFT will only be gifted with the physical product’s purchase and will not be sold separately. Drops will typically be limited to 50 items, although Prada plans to double its stock during the first Timecapsule drop, scheduled for June 2 at 9 a.m. ET.
What to expect — The brand’s initial offering will feature a one-off shirt designed in collaboration with artist Cassius Hirst — son of immensely successful (and controversial) artist Damien Hirst. Each shirt, available in both black and white, comes decorated with Cassius Hirst's signature mask and brain scan patterns. The tops, of which there are only 100, are made with technical fabrics from Prada’s Linea Rossa high-performance line.
Hirst’s design symbolizes unity and togetherness, Prada said in a press release, perhaps nodding to the few who will be able to partake in the Timecapsule release. That said, Timecapsule drops are open to customers around the world, including Australia; Austria; Belgium; Brazil; Canada; China Mainland; Denmark; Finland; France; Germany; Greece; Hong Kong S.A.R.; Ireland; Italy; Japan; Korea; Luxemburg; Monaco; Netherlands; New Zealand; Norway; Portugal; Singapore; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland; Taiwan; Turkey; United Arab Emirates; United Kingdom; and the United States.
Prada has not detailed the NFTs which will accompany its Timecapsule drop with Hirst, although we do know that each digital collectible will include the drop’s serial number and the number of its accompanying physical item. NFT owners will be offered exclusive benefits and experiences, Prada said, as well as access to future drops. All Timecapsule NFTs are issued on the Ethereum blockchain for a secure and user-friendly experience.
Let’s talk about it — For everyone without the means — or frankly, concern — for Prada’s Timecapsule NFT Collection, the label has launched “Prada Crypted,” a new community server on Discord. Everyone is welcome to join the group to discuss luxury fashion, NFTs, or the ridiculousness that constantly surrounds both.
