Salomon’s skyline-inspired XT-6 sneakers are functional and fashionable
The performance sneakers are great for pounding pavement or mountain peaks.
As outdoor gear finds new purpose as streetwear (and even luxury streetwear), Salomon sneakers originally meant for trail hiking have turned into streetstyle grails. The brand’s kicks now brave Brooklyn neighborhoods as much as they do the great outdoors, lending their functional features to both settings. As a result, however, their practicality has been contradicted by impractical prices on the resale market — meaning you have to move fast if you’re looking to snag a pair.
Luckily, Salomon has so far been generous with new offerings: Following its collaboration with The Broken Arm, the brand is introducing a summer-ready lineup of its beloved XT-6 sneakers. Dubbed the “Skyline” series, the shoes take inspiration from the color transitions found from dawn to dusk and flaunt light gradients throughout their sublimated mesh uppers.
Built for peak performance anywhere — Durable TPU film zig-zags across the sneaker’s upper, offering waterproofing and abrasion-proof structure alongside an element of style. Salomon’s minimalist Quicklace™ system allows users to tighten their shoes with one pull — a handy detail whether you’re on-the-go in the city or the mountains — while molded OrthoLite® sock liners help provide comfort throughout the day and upgrade your performance.
A dual-density midsole with EVA cushioning protects feet and ensures soft landings whether you’re hopping over boulders or cement curbs. Mud Contragrip soles, boasting sharp lugs, deliver maximum traction in slippery outdoor conditions — even loose, soft, rugged, and uneven surfaces, Salomon’s website boasts. An Agile Chassis™ System finishes off the sneaker, giving you stability with each step.
Another day, another Salomon — The three new “Skyline” XT-6 sneakers include an orange and cream “Morning Dawn” color scheme, a contrasting purple and orange “Sunset” pair, and a blue and white “Cold Night” color scheme. Each will undoubtedly sell out — the latter already has — meaning you should move fast if you’re interested in the performance kicks. The “Skyline” pairs are available now via Salomon’s website for $190 each, a price that includes the features listed above (and then some). Trust you won’t regret investing in the long-lasting XT-6 kicks — just make sure to snag them before the sun sets.
The sneaker’s campaign seems to lean into their newfound street style label.
