Intel is announcing new H-Series processors as part of its 12th Gen Intel Core (codenamed Alder Lake) line at CES 2022. The company has a ton to share about its new “enthusiast” focused chips, including information about its discrete graphics card, so here are four key takeaways.

Intel claims its new “divide and conquer” structure allows an H-Series chip like the Intel Core i9-12900HK to achieve better power-performance than the new M1 Max, AMD Ryzen 9, and comparable 11th Gen Intel processors. The M1 Max is still more power-efficient at 35W based on Intel’s charts, though.

In apps like Adobe Premiere, the new 12th Gen Intel Core i9-2900HK shows a 44% performance increase in comparison to 11th Gen Intel chips, and comparable chips from Apple and AMD last year.
