Watch Tesla's Model S Plaid hit 60 mph in about 2 seconds

Plaid might not be as boring as you thought.

Tesla’s new Model S Plaid has got some eye-popping specs, and rather than rattle them off for you, it’s better to just watch this very real video of Telsa’s new sedan absolutely exploding out of the gate.

While Tesla says the Model S Plaid’s actual acceleration peaks at 0-60 mph in 1.99 seconds, this video from @Erdayastronaut definitely clocks the sedan closer to two seconds, which...

Is still very fast

Either way, that kind of high-powered acceleration is not only fun to watch, but also places it among the top performers when it comes to production cars, let alone a four-door sedan.

9.23 seconds

That's how fast the Model S can drive a quarter of a mile.

Behind the Model S Plaid’s flashy acceleration specs are a bunch of new technological updates, including a new three-motor system and a new battery pack capable of providing 760 kW of power.

Do you need to go from 0-60 mph in two seconds or less? In most cases, probably not, but from a marketing standpoint, it doesn’t hurt to have an EV that can not only hang with gas-guzzling counterparts but pretty much blow them out of the water.
