Researchers say "microfliers" could be dropped from planes to help monitor airborne disease or pollution.

Researchers at Northwestern University are making big advancements in tiny flying machines.

“Microfliers,” as they’ve been dubbed, are miniature microchips, about the size of a grain of sand, that use a bio-inspired aerodynamic design, rather than motorized propulsion, to twirl through the air.
